My name is Jamie Parker-Barnes, The Wood Warrior, I’m 17 years old, and live in Bega.
I started doing woodworking around ten years old and started turning when I was 13 and have always known that working with wood was going to be a life long passion and career of mine.
I love the endless possibilities of things that you can do and create with wood, and that you never know what a piece of wood will look like until you start turning it and shaping it.
I am also passionate about the preservation of trees, and so, as much as possible, my pieces are made from offcuts, recycled wood, and branches that have fallen or been trimmed.
I love the quiet and tranquility of living in the Bega Valley, where I can easily visit one of the many beaches on the South Coast for a swim or walk, or go to the lake for a sail.
I ’m Nene (Janine Crabb) from FunFashionbyBlueWren. I make skirts, bags, headbands—anything textile related.
I’m constantly adding to my repertoire. I don’t mass produce. When you buy from me you might be one of only 4 people on the entire planet to own one of my creations
My professional life is as a teacher of fashion and textile design. I am an advocate for the use of sustainable materials. I insist on ethically designed and made garment's and textiles.
Today I’m living the dream in beautiful Tomakin. Most day’s you will find me either at the beach or in my textiles studio (aka my house).
